Your Fabulous First Book: How to Write with Clarity, Confidence & Connection
My Fabulous First Book: A Workbook Companion

What are your books about?

Your Fabulous First Book prepares first time authors to navigate the writing and publishing process from first idea to published book. I cover how to determine clarity of several areas before writing such as author and reader motivations, how to overcome challenges and build confidence, and how to connect with readers in the book and in the marketplace. My companion workbook has similar information with fill-in-the-blank pages to allow the reader to create a framework for a successful book.

What inspired you to write your book?

I’ve wanted to be an author most of my life but always working full time didn’t afford me much time to write. I quit a part time job a few years ago and vowed I would write my first book then. I’d already written a bunch of books as a ghostwriter but none for me. I decided to write what I knew- book writing and publishing. After searching for a niche in a crowded market I decided to focus my first two books on prepping first-time nonfiction authors for a successful writing and publishing journey.

If you have a business related to your book, tell us about it:

I’m the owner of WritersWay since 2000 and have been an award winning ghostwriter and copy editor of more than 100 books, mostly nonfiction. I’m also the bestselling author of two books, more to come, and a nonfiction book coach to primarily entrepreneurs and all kinds of experts.

What is a typical day like for you?

My work day is from 10 am to 8 pm with a lunch break, a short walk, and sometimes a meditation/nap (I call medinap). I first read through emails I need to answer. Then I view my workday schedule and prepare for any calls I may have or meetings I may be attending. I usually split my time between working with my coaching clients, writing a new book, and marketing my coaching and my books.

What do you most enjoy about what you do?

My top values are creativity and freedom and that’s what I have every day as an author.

What are some favorite books you’d recommend to our readers?

I enjoy both fiction and nonfiction, so I recommend reading what serves your purpose: either or both education (nonfiction) or entertainment (fiction).

What advice do you have to offer our readers?

Write that book! Don’t let fears, doubts, or any obstacles stop you. If this is what you want make the commitment, find the support, and get professional guidance.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I’m also an artist; I do jewelry/beading/wire wrapping, mosaic, fused glass, and multi-media projects.

What’s next for you?

I’m working on two new books. One is Build-A-Book Blueprint based on the course I just taught and the other is Build-A-Book Business about building a business around your book.
