Author Bio

Rosanne has worked as a National Park Ranger and a California State Park Ranger in many different locations over the years. Her time spent on camping trips with her family as a child gave her a tremendous love for the outdoors as well as a deep understanding of how important it is to protect our natural resources. Her recently released book – Tales From a Rogue Ranger – speaks to the comedy and tragedy of being a park ranger: a job that is nothing like you might imagine. Set against the stunning backdrop of California’s American River Canyon, this is an engaging and wildly unusual read about the untamed life of a woman ranger. From a miner riding a mule to river rescues and riots on the beach, these tales show the kaleidoscope of characters a park ranger encounters, giving the reader a fascinating look into a true ranger experience. McHenry has appeared in numerous documentaries, articles and news stories about California while working as a State Park Ranger and traveling around the world promoting California State Parks. She is also the author of the book – Trip Tales: From Family Camping to Life as a Ranger. “Most people think of Smokey the Bear when they imagine a park ranger’s job,” McHenry says. “But California State Park Rangers are fully-qualified peace officers, just like any other. We had to be prepared for anything, all the time. Often, we were the lone rescuers out there, saving lives. Each day was a new challenge for us, and every day was an adventure. I think people will find these stories fascinating.”
