Professional Biography:

Dr. Terry H. Conger is the Poultry Health Specialist/Epidemiologist for Field Operations District 4 (which includes Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kansas, Nebraska, and Texas) with the USDA, APHIS, Veterinary Services (VS). He works out of his home in Pea Ridge, Arkansas, and the VS District Office in Little Rock, Arkansas. He has been in this position since June, 2012. Prior to moving to Arkansas, Dr. Conger served as the Area Epidemiology Officer (AEO) in Louisiana for 7 years, in which he monitored the surveillance, epidemiology, and diagnosis of all livestock & poultry Program Diseases (including brucellosis, tuberculosis, pseudorabies, avian influenza, scrapie, and others) (with APHIS, VS). Dr. Conger also has served as the Tuberculosis Herd Accreditation Veterinary Medical Officer (VMO) in Michigan (June, 2004 to January, 2005) with VS, State Epidemiologist with the Texas Animal Health Commission (1998-03), State Epidemiologist with the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission (1985-92), Station Epidemiologist with Arkansas VS (1979-1985), and Veterinary Medical Officer (VMO) in Michigan and Colorado (1972-79). Before and between his regulatory veterinary medicine endeavors, Dr. Conger has worked in a companion animal veterinary practice in southeastern Pennsylvania and in central Utah, and taught human anatomy/physiology and microbiology at Austin (TX) Community College.

• Master of Science, Michigan State University, 1978: Microbiology and Immunology; and,
• Ph.D, Brigham Young University, 2000: Aquaculture and Fish Diseases.
