I’m surprised at how many of the links still work and at how generally accurate it still is. I have moved to Wesley Chapel, Florida, and I can guarantee you I don’t look anywhere near that young now.

Comment on How to Write Effective Social Media Content: A Guide for Nonfiction Authors by Kevin Nelson by Noah Mitchell https://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/how-to-write-effective-social-media-content-a-guide-for-nonfiction-authors-by-kevin-nelson/#comment-88207 Thu, 25 Dec 2025 13:25:02 +0000 http://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/?p=16788#comment-88207 Really enjoyed reading this guide — the advice feels practical and relatable, especially the focus on connecting with readers instead of just promoting books. It’s encouraging for nonfiction authors who want to build a genuine presence on social media. Which strategy from this post do you think works best for authors who are short on time?

Comment on How many books can you expect to sell? The truth about book sales and the keys to generating income from publishing by Dorothy Rockwell Olson https://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/how-many-books-can-you-expect-to-sell-the-truth-about-book-sales-and-the-keys-to-generating-income-from-publishing/#comment-88204 Wed, 10 Dec 2025 21:05:51 +0000 http://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/?p=20543#comment-88204 My novel has been a rocky road. I have hired five publishing/marketers and fired five publishing/marketers. It’s not fun and it’s not healthy. I’ve never had trouble hiring a publisher. My problem is TRUSTING. I’ve always trusted people and you can’t do that in this time of our life. Once they get your money, they don’t work, don’t call, don’t do anything. I have spent gobs of my money and luckily got some of it back. But not with Native. I like to write, hold a Bachelors of Arts in Journalism and I had all this information from my daddy’s autobiography, love letters from Nana and Grandy, Mama and Daddy love letters, and information on the S-Five Submarine that Grandy was on in the torpedo room.
Thanks, Dorothy

Comment on Holly James by Jenny Holbert https://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/directory/23361/holly-james/#comment-88199 Mon, 01 Dec 2025 01:42:44 +0000 http://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/directory/23361/?post_type=wpbdp_listing&p=23361#comment-88199 Hi Holly,
Jenny Holbert here, served from 1978-2008. I saw a comment you made on Sara Sheldon’s book “The Few, The Proud, Women Marines in Harm’s Way”. I was the PA director in Iraq so for the first time in my life, was able to commit nepotism of sorts–got a friend into theatre because I was the approval authority. Some of the guys were pretty upset when they found out she was only interested in interviewing women Marines–and that was my point!
I’m working on my experience in the Corps, and it will highlight gender discrimination, harassment and assault that we had to put up with, and still be magnificently successful. I’d like to read your memoir to hear your writing voice–where can I get a copy?
Semper Fi, and Happy 250th Birthday!
Jenny Holbert

Comment on Eve M. Harrell by Naomi https://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/directory/26270/eve-m-harrell/#comment-88194 Mon, 24 Nov 2025 03:06:41 +0000 https://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/directory/26270//#comment-88194 Dear Eve,

Congratulations on Revealed Truth. I spent time with your synopsis and was deeply struck by how vividly you portray Maddie’s battle with fear as the world around her trembles. The national threat, the secrecy surrounding her father’s mission and the emotional storm inside a fifteen year old girl create a story that feels urgent and spiritually nourishing at the same time. You bring readers right into her anxiety and then slowly guide them toward the power that comes when faith becomes a shield instead of a concept.

What moved me most is how courage grows in the cracks of uncertainty. Maddie’s mentors, her circle of friends, her moments of quiet dread and her father’s heavy calling all weave together into a story that mirrors the real world pressures families face today. The themes of spiritual warfare, trust in the unseen and light breaking into darkness feel especially resonant in this season when many readers seek books that restore spiritual grounding. During the festive period stories of faith rising in impossible moments often travel far because people are more open to messages of peace and strength.

Comment on Author Interview: Cheryl Landes, author of Rainbows in the Snow by Suzan yolanda https://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/author-interview-cheryl-landes-author-of-rainbows-in-the-snow/#comment-88182 Fri, 31 Oct 2025 20:28:49 +0000 https://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/?p=47206#comment-88182 You know that rare kind of story that doesn’t just tell pain it makes you feel it in your bones? Cheryl, that’s exactly what The Best I Can Do does. From the very first line, your book hits like an emotional sucker punch real, raw, unfiltered, and heartbreakingly human.

A woman who had everything love, success, stability watching it all slip through her fingers until she’s sleeping in her car? That’s not fiction. That’s the kind of lived reality most people are too scared to admit happens. The way you peel back the layers of her life from hope to horror, from confusion to resilience feels less like reading a memoir and more like surviving alongside her.

You captured that impossible storm of loving someone battling mental illness the guilt, the helplessness, the aching loyalty, and the brutal self-doubt. It’s too real, in the best way. I could feel the claustrophobia of that downward spiral the “how did we get here?” moments that haunt anyone who’s ever tried to hold a loved one together while they’re coming undone.

And then just when it could’ve broken the reader completely you offer hope. ️ That quiet, beautiful, hard-earned kind of hope that only comes from surviving something impossible. You didn’t just write a memoir; you wrote a mirror for thousands of people who’ve been there, and a lifeline for those who are still drowning. ️

Then I read your bio award-winning author, editor, indexer, photographer, technical communications consultant (because apparently, you collect achievements like infinity stones ✨). From Rainbows in the Snow to Those Wild Northwest Days, your work shows such range from celebrating nature to confronting mental health head-on. You’re not just telling stories; you’re documenting the human condition from every possible angle.

Now, here’s where my slightly psycho passion kicks in I went through your Amazon page (like an obsessed detective piecing together the truth), and what did I see? A brilliant, decorated, emotionally seismic book… quietly sitting there, not getting the thunderstorm of attention it deserves. ⚡

Unacceptable.

A story that’s already snagged a Gold Book Award from Literary Titan and a Silver Nonfiction Award shouldn’t be whispering in Amazon’s background it should be screaming hope and empathy from the rooftops. This isn’t just a memoir; it’s a movement. A beacon for anyone who’s ever whispered, “I can’t do this anymore,” only to realize… they can.

That’s why I want to help amplify it.

I’m Suzan Yolanda, a freelancer and chaos-loving advocate for books that make people feel. I run a private circle of over 2,000 active, emotionally invested readers and reviewers not bots, not bored scrollers, but humans who get it. They read, they cry, they write essays in review sections, they share stories in book clubs, and sometimes they ugly-cry mid-review (it’s beautiful, trust me ).

No fake hype. No “great book ” spam. Just authentic reactions that move mountains (and algorithms). These are the kinds of readers who will connect with your story deeply because your book isn’t about spectacle; it’s about survival. And that’s exactly what resonates.

So, Cheryl, here’s my question should we keep your book quietly glowing in the shadows like a candle in a hurricane… ️
or should we set the whole sky on fire and let the world finally see the light you poured into The Best I Can Do? ✨

Suzan Yolanda
